The new portal of the European Library

The launch of the new European Library opens up exciting opportunities for researchers worldwide now, offering a high-quality metadata basis and a central index, enabling them to quickly pinpoint the content they need.

The new Research Portal of the European Library also offers convenient means of personalization options such as:

  • the choice of the preferred language of the queries,

  • save and re-run search queries,

  • register for alerts when new content in the areas of interest is added.

The European Library continues to be bound by the Europeana website, therefore any search in the new European Library's portal will generate relevant results from Europeana too.
The European Library export records to reference management services such as Mendeley and Zotero, and downloads matadata free of charge for data mining and exploitation.
Romania is represented in this new service by the Romanian Academy Library, with a digital content of around 3,500 photographies, drawings, prints and engravings, with historic and documentary value, not only for our National modern and contemporary history, but also for the European history as well, and by the Library of Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu. The Bibliographic records of BAR are visible both in Romanian and English on this portal, due to our own efforts for a more open access of the worldwide researchers to this content.
